Deal or No Deal?

I occasionally watch NBC's programme 'Deal or No Deal'. The show gets interesting sometimes, depending on how risk-averse the player is.
However, certain things amuse me about this show...
Everytime a case is opened, why do some players look away or keep saying 'low please' or 'from the left side' to the model holding the case? The model really has no clue what the bag contains and has no control whatsoever!
Sometimes, players and his/her friends/relatives really bend down in knees with hope that the case will contain low numbers. I have never figured out what is the psychological relationship between bending in knees and possiblility of getting a low number.

Overall, this show shows how some people behave under pressure or become more willing to take risk when their hope suddenly jumps!

It has to be the most brainless show one could come up with, don't you think? I prefer spending my time watching Jeopardy or even millionaire once in a while.

Not totally "brainless" as the deal offered is based on probabilistic calculations.

Jeopardy is definitely much better!
I often realize how poor my GK is while watching it :-)
